This is one of my two entries to the Flowers contest being held by Artisan Craft club (Check the contest on their journal)
The piece is inspired by a Tsuba in the MFA Boston collection, made with the sukashi technique.
The alloy is Shibuichi (with about 25% Silver in it and patinated with Baldwin's patina). I have yet to nail these alloys properly.
From the technical aspect I must say things always look better without magnification for some reason. Don Simpson's suggestion that I should cast the crashing waves panels (which is just a study) led me to ponder whether I could get over my issues with cast work and in general making series of works. I suppose it is some sort of alignment going on as my fiancee talked me into making some things to be made in series (in silver most likely) so that she could open an Etsy store. The idea is that she would do some kumihimo cords or macrame to make these medallion/pendants wearable and offer them for rather affordable prices 50/£50 or thereabouts. So basically I am working on that.
The originals, namely these pieces that I will be posting will be available for sale before the series are made during the coming Autumn ready for the festive season.
I really, really like this- it's so organic looking, which I suppose is the point given the nature of the competition ^_^ Reminds me of art-deco-ey, Mucha-type swirls for some reason. YumYum.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
